Almond eyes
Almond-shaped eyes are characterized by a slightly pointed end towards the outside of the eye and a wider center that causes the iris to be partially hidden by the upper and lower lids. The almond eye shape is the oval face shape of eyeballs. They are an incredibly versatile shape which means just about any lash will work with them.

Deep-set eyes
When your eyes are set deeper into the head creating an illusion of a more prominent brow bone. Deep-set eyes tend to be larger, which makes certain looks easier to pull off than women with smaller eyes. False eyelashes that are very long and very wispy are great choices. In fact, any false eyelashes that are very long and very voluminous will give this illusion. Try lashes that are longer in length at the center of the lashes. It is important to wear dramatic and long lashes with deep-set eyes because the lash can easily be eaten up by the weight of your brow bone and take away from your look.

Downturned eyes
Do the outer corners of your eyes sit lower on your face than the inner corners (The corners closest to your nose)? If so, your eyes are likely downturned! Sexy, downturned eyes were once a staple in old Hollywood glamour. To get a vintage, Hollywood-glam look with false eyelashes, try lashes that are very soft, wispy, and natural looking. False eyelashes that are too heavy or full will only make your eye shape look even more downturned, resulting in a tired-looking appearance! Try a shorter strip lash that is longer in the outer corners to lift your eyes.

Hooded eyes
For those who don’t know what hooded eyes are, it is when you have excess skin under your brow bone, meaning that it creates a fold and you can’t see much of the eyelid. The wrong lashes can make your eyes look smaller than they are, so when you’re on the lookout for the best lashes make sure you buy ones that are fluffy and long in the center. The increase of length in the middle of the lash line and the fluffy volume really magnifies your eyes, creating a big eye illusion. When the crease on your eyelid isn’t visible. Try a thin strip lash in a shorter length.

Prominent eyes
Prominent eyes are eyes that protrude from the eye socket, they are round and big in shape. Try balancing your top lashes with strip lashes on the bottom, too, which will give the illusion of pushing back your eyes. Also, consider if your eyes are close or wideset. If you have prominent eyes, try lashes that vary in short and medium length. This type of lash draws attention to your lash line as well as enhancing your eye shape.

Consider what effect you want to achieve
Find a place with good lighting and get a close-up mirror. Take a good look at your eyelashes. Do you need more volume, length or definition?
There are so many false eyelashes shapes, and it will help you to know what kind of effect do you want to achieve. If you like a sexy cat eye look, go for the lashes that are longer towards the end. Then again, if you prefer a doll-like doe eye, go for lashes that are longer in the center.
The most common types of False lashes
- Natural false eyelashes will add subtle fullness and length, for a demure flutter. Natural lashes are perfect for everyday wear, a day at the office or when you’re playing it cool.
- Dramatic lashes ramp up the volume thanks to a double layer of lashes that overlap each other to create depth. As the name suggests, dramatic lashes are perfect for any occasion where you want to bring drama.
- Lengthening false eyelashes are long yet light, for those of you who like extra length with a natural finish. They are perfect for opening up the eyes and can also be worn with mascara. This telescopic length lash would be great for a dinner date or a spring wedding.
- Texture lashes have a twisty, messed-up finish. The criss-cross nature of each individual lash creates a roughed-up, messed up style that creates layers of texturized depth. Boho babes will love them for the messy, unfussy effect that these texture eyelashes give to the eyes. Perfect for festivals, first dates…
- Individual lashes – Individual lashes can add length and volume to your normal lashes while maintaining a natural look. They last much longer than standard strip lashes, making them perfect for long weekends away or holidays in which you want to look glam and wide-eyed at all times.
How to apply false eyelashes?
You will need:
- One pair false eyelashes
- Tube of lash adhesive
- Small scissors
- Tweezers – pointed tweezers are best as they have a finer tip which is perfect for precisely picking up each lash cluster when removing them from the tray, and applying them later on.
- Eyelash curler
- Mascara wand – to comb the lashes into place and blend the false lashes with your natural lashes
- Eyeliner
- Good lighting
- Close-up mirror – a good-sized vanity mirror will be perfect for this, just make sure it will sit securely on a surface that will be in line with your face and eyes in particular.
Step 1: Trim false eyelashes to the right size
Remove the lash strip from the package and gently bend back and forth. This helps loosen up the lash strip, making it more pliable. Hold lashes at one of the outer ends of the lash band to prevent damage to the lashes. Now, place lashes directly above the lash line. Lashes should begin a few millimeters away from the inner corner of your eye. Cut the outer ends to fit the length of an eyelid with small scissors.
Step 2: Applying adhesive
The color of eyelash glue comes in either black or white. Buying black glue might be helpful if you are planning on applying heavy makeup, but white glue dries clear and might be the better choice if you are going for a more natural look.
- Put a thin amount on the band evenly but put just a little extra on the ends.
- Find a clear adhesive instead of a black one to avoid messing up.
- As they’re drying, bend the strip into a C shape and wiggle back and forth to make band flexible.
- Wait for the glue to dry before applying. Depending on the glue and how much you put in it, you can wait from 15 seconds to 2 minutes.
- Use a good adhesive, so the lashes wouldn’t fall off. One of the most popular adhesives is the Duo Lash Adhesive Clear.

Step 3: Applying lashes
- Using either your fingers or a pair of tweezers to put them on.
- Find good lighting and look straight ahead with your eyes open.
- Use a close-up mirror to apply them closest to your natural lashes as possible.
- Press the center of the false eyelashes, and use tweezers to attach the ends. It doesn’t matter which end first.
Step 4: Finishing Touches
To lift them up, use an eyelash curler and press both false and your natural eyelashes. It’s a good way to blend false eyelashes with natural eyelashes.
Do it gently and then apply a few light strokes of mascara.
Apply eyeliner to hide the lash band if it is visible and finish the look.
Step 5: Removing false eyelashes
When it comes to removal, use an oil-free eye makeup remover to soften the glue and then allow the lash to slide right off. Dab a Q-tip (cotton swab) in oil-free and alcohol-free makeup remover. Very gently go along your lash line with the Q-tip to loosen the lash adhesive.
Once the glue is more pliable, it should peel away more easily. Grasp the outer edge of lashes and gently pull up, toward the inner corner of your eye. Hold lash at the lash band (instead of at the mink lashes) to prevent damage to the lashes. Gently remove any excess lash glue from the lash band by peeling off thin strips of glue with fingers or tweezers.
Don’t put fake eyelashes every day. Under long-term use, the glue can cause lash loss, irritate the eye and cause eyelids wrinkles.
Step 6: Storing Your Lashes
You might not know this, but—yes!—false eyelashes can be reusable. Make sure not to use any oil-based cleansers on the lash, as that will make additional uses very difficult (adhesive does not like to attach to an oily surface). Peel any remaining pieces of glue off the lash and use eye makeup remover and a Q-tip to clean it more thoroughly. Store your lashes in a clean plastic container or in the original packaging and they’ll be ready for your next big night out!
Now that you have the know-how, go out and pick up a pair of false eyelashes that best highlight your unique and beautiful eye shape!
